Aldehyde C-18, also known as gamma-nonalactone or coconut aldehyde, is a fragrance material that imparts a sweet, creamy coconut like scent. Despite its name, it's not a true aldehyde but a lactone, a type of cyclic ester. It's widely used in perfumery and flavorings to create coconut and creamy notes.
It is characterised by its sweet, creamy, and lactonic (milky, buttery) notes, often described as having a coconut-like aroma.
It's used to create coconut notes, add creaminess to floral accords like Gardenia, Tuberose, Honeysuckle, and contribute to oriental and gourmand fragrance types. Blending with Methyl Laitone creates a very realistic coconut scent. Excellent for all tropical compositions and gourmand blends.
